Olivier Galland is a researcher at the GEMASS, Sorbonne University, Group studying the various existing methods used in sociological analysis.

Between 2007 and 2011, he was also Chairman of the Scientific Committee at the Observatory on Student life, and Deputy Scientific Director at AERES (the French research and higher education assessment Agency).

He took part in the master’s courses in sociology at the University of Paris IV. His work is addressing Youth sociology, sociology of life cycle and generations, sociology of values, and sociology of inequality.

 

Olivier Galland has actively participated in setting up and leading several think tanks on youth policies, in particular the consultation launched by the government in April 2009 and led by Martin Hirsch.

Olivier Galland has published (with Y. Lemel as co-author), « Values and cultures in Europe » (Editions la Découverte, 2007, collection Repères), « Are French young people justified in being frightened? » (Armand Colin Ed.) and in 2018 “Sociology of inequality” (Armand Colin).
